2007 Edward C. Moore Symposium
Friday, March 2, 2007 at IUPUI
In keeping with the long-standing tradition of gathering around an academic issue of interest to all, the E. C. Moore Symposium will to offer a variety of sessions that emphasize innovation and best practices. Scholarly activities are occurring on campus that enhance the practice and profession of teaching as well as bring multiculturalism and diversity into the classroom and onto campus.
For the 2007 symposium, some of the following questions will be explored:
-
How are faculty successfully integrating diversity or multiculturalism concepts or strategies in their classes to enhance students’ learning experiences?
-
How can we improve the recruitment and retention of diverse populations?
-
What successful strategies are we employing to ensure the success of students of color (in classrooms, undergraduate research, co-curricular learning, service learning)?
-
How are we preparing students to become engaged citizens and professionals in an increasingly global society?
-
What approaches are faculty employing to internationalize the curriculum?
-
What are innovative uses of technology that address the needs of diverse learners?
