WHO MAY NOMINATE?

FACET nominations can be initiated by any full-time faculty member or administrator who is familiar with the work of the candidate as a teacher. A brief letter, phone call, or e-mail to the FACET Campus Liaison will serve to initiate the process (see Campus Liaisons for the appropriate person on each campus). The deadlines for nominations vary by campus. Please contact your campus liaison for more information. NOTE: FACET candidates may NOT self-nominate.

Campus Selection Process
The Campus FACET Selection Committee meets each year to aid nominees in preparing their application packets and then to determine which applicants are recommended to the Statewide FACET Selection Committee. Candidates submit their dossiers to Campus committee, which evaluates the dossier based on the criteria stated in this document. The rating form provided in Appendix A is used during this process, and is a good guide to the candidate in dossier preparation. NOTE: Each candidacy is considered based only on the materials contained in the dossier. It is essential that the dossier describe the candidate in a way that is precise, complete, and to the point. Please refer to the Nominee Rating Form when preparing your materials.

The campus selection committees may act on each candidacy in one of three ways:

  1. The committee may decide to forward the dossier for further consideration as it stands.
  2. The committee may suggest the candidate make some additions or adjustments to the dossier and resubmit it before a final decision is made.
  3. The committee may decide not to support the candidacy. In this case, the campus selection committee chair will write to the candidate indicating the areas of the dossier that need strengthening.

The names of candidates who are selected by the campus selection committees for further consideration will be forwarded to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or Dean of the Faculties who prepares a letter or electronic communication listing the endorsed campus nominees. The campus endorsement must be forwarded to the FACET office at: The Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching, IUPUI UL Room 1180, 755 W. Michigan Street Indianapolis, IN 46202-5195 or emailed to facet@iupui.edu. Copies of this correspondence will be forwarded to the campus liaison.
