THE FACET STATEWIDE SELECTION PROCESS
FACET typically selects 25-35 members each year through a two-stage peer review process. It begins with the on-campus nomination and preparation of the FACET application. The application is submitted to and reviewed by a campus committee that is chaired by the FACET Campus Liaison. The campus committee reviews the application for both completeness and worthiness. The list of qualified candidates is sent to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs or the Dean of Faculities for endorsement. The applications of qualified and endorsed candidates are then forwarded on to the FACET office. The FACET office forwards the applications to the Statewide FACET Selection Committee, which includes representatives from each IU campus.

Liaisons: Please have your campuses State-Wide Selection Committee Member submitted to FACET by the start of classes in January.

The Statewide FACET Selection Committee meets between late February and early March of each year to review the applications and select new members who exemplify an extraordinary commitment to enhance and promote teaching excellence and student learning. The Statewide Selection Committee is not required to select a minimum number of applicants from each campus.

Final Statewide Submission Deadline
Letter of campus endorsement along with the complete applications of the recommended candidates must be forwarded in one of two ways to the FACET office at:

Date of Announcement of Candidates Selected for 2007-2008 FACET Award
Final selection is made by an all-campus Statewide Selection Committee. Final decisions will be announced to the candidates by letter by late March of 2007.

Those selected will be invited to participate as FACET’s guests at the 2008 FACET Retreat, to be held Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18, 2008 at French Lick Resort and Casino in French Lick, Indiana.  A special recognition ceremony for new members traditionally occurs after dinner of the first evening of the Retreat.
